Esimakua Örön lintutarjonnasta – A preview of Örö Island bird life

Kemiösaaren kunnassa sijaitseva Örön saari on ollut sotilaskäytössä Venäjän vallan ajoilta lähtien. Yleisön pääsy tälle nykyisin Metsähallituksen hallinnoimalle saarelle on ollut rajoitettua, mutta vuoden 2015 aikana saari avataan laajemmin matkailijoille. Sitä ennen pieni lintuharrastajien etujoukko pääsee tutustumaan saaren linnustoon ja luontoon eri vuodenaikoina. Retkikokemukset kootaan tähän blogiin.

Örö Island is located off the South coast of Finland. The island has been in military use since the early 20th century, and access has been limited for the general public. Starting from the year 2015, the island, now under the management of Metsähallitus, will be opened for tourists. Before that, a small vanguard of birdwatchers will have a chance to visit the island and study its bird life across the seasons. This blog will follow their experiences.
